Through conversations, events, meetings and surveys over the last year, stakeholders have curated a map of what Mid Market’s retail landscape should look like.
IKEA & Hej!Workshop
The first U.S. City-concept IKEA is open, as is the two-story food hall (Saluhall), and co-working space (Hej!Workshop); the building is complete with on-site, indoor parking.
Other recent additions to Mid Market include 200 Channels, Habibi’s Birria, The Ballroom, The Function Comedy and Cocktail Club, and The Nook.
MORE PEOPLE ARE LIVING IN MID MARKET
New residential developments such as: Serif, Prism, 50 Jones, Trinity Place, and Nema contributed to a 15% increase in residents living in Mid Market since 2019 and a 42% increase in residents living in the greater Mid Market area; with 10,000 new residents living on Market Street between 5th and 10th Street.
CONVENIENT, EASY ACCESS
Mid Market is bookended by Powell Street and Civic Center BART/MUNI regional transit stations. Autos have access to 20 nearby parking lots and garages. A flat street with wide sidewalks, Mid Market is bicycle and pedestrian friendly, and open to all commercial vehicles, Waymos, Lyft Blacks and Uber Blacks 24/7. Mid Market also features vintage streetcars on the F-line, popular with tourists and locals alike.
STREETWEAR AND SKATEBOARDING
Mid Market is at the forefront of streetwear retail, featuring such stores as SUPREME, Shiekh and Oxford Street. This streetwear scene is primed to grow as the recently expanded skate plaza on Market Street brings skaters from across the Bay Area to the neighborhood.
